Welcome to the homepage of Cellist Seeli Toivio.
Seeli Toivio is a Finnish classical virtuoso cellist. She is known
for her exceptionally perfect technique and warm sound. She regularly
performs as a recitalist, soloist and versatile chamber musician
in her home country Finland and abroad.
Seeli Toivio especially
enjoys performing virtuoso music from 19th century and playing
all kinds of chamber music in various groups. She arranges virtuoso
violin works for cello, which she often performs in her concerts.
The latest additions to her violin music arrangements are Vittorio
Monti's Czardas and Antonio Bazzini's Dance
of the Goblins.
Seeli
Toivio is studying for a Doctoral degree at Sibelius Academy DocMus
Department for Performance and Research (Helsinki, Finland). Her
thesis is "The Development of the Left Hand Cello Technique
from 1700's". In the work she also introduces her own left
hand technique, which she especially uses in virtuoso works.
