Save The Baltic Sea Festival, April 8–16 was a success! 2 concerts and a seminar gave audiences great feasts for all senses. The main performer in the concerts was Se ensemble, conducted by Erkki Lasonpalo.
In the Chamber Music Concert Operation Mermaid (April 8), Se ensemble’s chamber groups performed music by Debussy, Takemitsu, Busch, Faith, Mozart, and Beethoven.
Gala Concert Save The Baltic Sea (April 16) featured Se ensemble in its symphonic glory: the Helsinki Temple Rock Church was filled with the fantastic sounds of Sibelius Oceanides, Bloch Poems of the Sea, and Britten Four Sea Interludes from “Peter Grimes”. Soloists of the evening were saxophonist Olli-Pekka Tuomisalo, who performed the Yrjö Gunaropulos Saxophone Concerto (1942), and the Absolute Girls Cello Duo Seeli Toivio & Helena Paavola. The beautifull ladies performed the 1st movement from the Shostakovich Cello Concerto Nr. 1, arranged for 2 cellos!
Baltic Sea Seminar The Oily Risk of the Baltic Sea featured Ms. Vanessa Ryan from World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Finland, Mr. Jorma Rytkönen from the Finland’s Environmental Center, and Mr. Erik Båsk from the John Nurminen Foundation.

The 2014 festival (April 7–10, 2014) is allready under construction – the programme shall be published in the Autumn of 2013.
